Summary:
Mathematics (numbers) is an essential part of children learning. This activity will help children identify numbers in the real life world. Children will identify numbers in and out of the classroom with the use of objects, people or materials. Children will hunt for numbers within and outside of the school using their tablet to take pictures of the number of items they find. Once children have completed their findings then their findings will be incorporated into their photo story.

"The Number Rock" video this will help children to identify and visualize the numbers that they will be hunting in "The Number Scavenger Hunt" After the introduction of the lesson and prediction of the next numbers along with the practice of singing and identifying the numbers 1- 10. The next step:
1) Children will be given a tablet to take pictures objects or items they observe in and out of the classroom. Through the photographs children will verbally make the connection of the object or item they took a picture of such as, if they have two crayons they will take the pictures and put the number two with the crayons they found.
Personalization/Differentiation
Children will be given a choice to pick the item they choose to display with the number they want to match. An extension of the lesson for children who have mastered the scavenger number hunt. Their numbers will increase to 1-20 to expand on their numerical knowledge. The modification of the lesson for children who may be struggling. Their numbers will be decrease to 1-5. This will help them to go at their own pace. In addition to, pairing the struggling child with the strong child in the scavenger number hunt. I believe in peer collaboration is a good tool for peer teaching. The ESL children will be supported by an interpreter along with visuals of numerical numbers to help them understand in English.
Real-World Connection
Children need to able to identify numbers for school as well as everyday life. This is an important self-help skill. Children identifying numbers will help them to be ready for Kindergarten.

Parents will be connected to assist their children by helping them connect with numbers in the real world such as, when they are out shopping or playing. Parents can send pictures of children findings via-email to incorporate into their photo stories. The children work will be displayed by photo story which is a program that allow children to sync the pictures with the items along with their voice telling about the item or objects that represents the number.
Assessment:
Children will use the photo story to display the objects they identified of the numbers 1-10
Resources:
Children will use classroom objects, self items, or outside resources such as, rocks, flowers, or household items to identify the one to one correspondence of the number and the item.
